In 2011, China announced its five year plan to spend a quarter of a trillion dollars to jumpstart the next phase of its aerospace industry. The country currently has more airports under construction, a growing workforce of engineers and assembly workers, and recently acquired two American companies specializing in small propeller planes. As the country continues to lead the charge to become the new leader in aviation power, Fallows discusses the scale of China's ambitious plans and what that would mean not only for the United States but the rest of the world.
