DESCRIPTION:Learn how to create a sustainable future in your\nsuburban backyard and beyond. A central theme in\nPermaculture is the design of regenerative and\necological landscapes that produce food. Permaculture\nalso includes energy-efficient buildings\,\nwaste-water treatment\, and land stewardship. It has\nexpanded its purview to include economic and social\nstructures that support the evolution and development\nof more permanent communities\, such as cohousing\nprojects and eco-villages. Design concepts\nare applicable to urban\, suburban\, and rural settings\,\nand for single households\, whole farms and villages.\nIn this two-day course you will learn the ethics\,\nprinciples and holistic design processes practiced in\nPermaculture. Plus\, you will take part in a hands-on\nPermaculture project at local sites to put theory into\npractice. Taught by Drew Harwell & Susan Osofsky.\n\nDrew is an edible-garden and Permaculture\nconsultant\, the manager of Jesse Cool's Seeds of Change\nGarden and the former Common Ground Garden Manager.\nSusan is a suburban Permaculturalist who enjoys\ncultivating her own backyard mini-farm. She is also an\navid compost tea brewer whose passion is creating\nbiologically active soil.
