DESCRIPTION:Learn simple techniques to bring color and life to your outdoor living space year round with container planting. Join Gamble's Garden Director Richard Hayden for a demonstration on creating containers with vegetables\, herbs\, annuals\, perennials\, and succulents. Topics covered will include plant choice\, choosing and combining pots\, soil selection\, watering and maintenance. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion. And you will learn one of the keys to designing a container garden: "the thriller\, spiller\, & filler technique". Each participant will plant their own container herb garden to take home. Richard Hayden currently serves as the Garden Director for the Elizabeth F. Gamble Garden. Previously\, Richard served as the Head Gardener for the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County where he managed the Nature Gardens\, a 3.5-acre wildlife habitat garden. Prior to working at the NHM\,\, he was the Principal Landscape Designer at Hayden Landscape Design where he enjoyed a 20-year career designing and maintaining gardens around the country. His gardens have been published in a number of publications including Architectural Digest\, Elle D cor\, and Martha Stewart Living.
