SUMMARY:Cafe Scientifique: Creativity and the Brain with Manish Saggar\, PhD
DESCRIPTION:Creativity and the Brain with Manish Saggar\, PhD. Manish Saggar\, PhD is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University. \n\n\n\nCreativity is widely recognized as an essential skill for entrepreneurial success and adaptation to daily-life demands. However\, we know little about how creative thinking is manifested in the brain and how to enhance it. In this talk\, Dr. Saggar will discuss some of the work he did in collaboration with the Stanford d.school to understand how creativity is manifested in the brain and which brain regions could facilitate enhancement in creativity. He will also share some of the recent and preliminary findings about creativity and brain development.\n\n \n\nDr. Saggar graduated from Indian Institute of Information Technology (Allahabad) and then went to the University of Texas at Austin for his PhD\, where he examined how intensive meditation training affects brain dynamics in the lab of Dr. Risto Miikkulainen. Followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in psychiatry at Stanford University under the guidance of Dr. Allan L. Reiss\, Manish established his independent computational neuropsychiatry lab in 2017. Brain Dynamics Lab is dedicated to developing computational methods to capture the brain's overall dynamical organization in health and disease. In addition to the NIH Director's New Innovator Award\, Dr. Saggar has received the NIH Career Development Award (K99/R00) and the NARSAD Young Investigator Award from the Brain & Behavior Foundation.\n\n \n\nThis presentation will NOT be available on SBC's YouTube channel at a later date. But you can check out some of our past Caf Sci presenter on our YouTube page here: https://www.youtube.com/user/stanfordbloodcenter \n\n \n\nPlease note that the views and opinions presented at Caf Scientifique do not necessarily reflect those of Stanford Blood Center.\n\n \n\nQuestions?
