DESCRIPTION:Caf  Sci is back! In this online talk\, Dr. Tho D. Pham\, chief medical officer at Stanford Blood Center\, will give an overview of the current state of transfusion transmitted infections\, review the current technologies and processes in place to decrease and prevent transfusion transmitted infections\, and lastly explore developing technologies. Dr. Pham is actively involved in a variety of research projects\, both scientifically and operationally. From a scientific standpoint\, he is interested in studying antibody responses to carbohydrate antigens. Operationally\, he has been involved in implementing data-driven inventory practices. Dr. Pham is a Bay Area native and proud Milpitas High School alumnus. He acquired his BS and MD at UCLA and UCSD\, respectively. Dr. Pham did his residency and fellowship at Stanford University\, and has been with Stanford Blood Center since 2014\, where he currently serves as Medical Director of Clinical Services. Dr. Pham is also Co-Chair for the California Blood Bank Society (CBBS) Scientific Committee.
