DESCRIPTION:Come join us at SSL for an amazing hands-on composting workshop with Master Gardener\, Guy Duran! ________________________________________ You will be learning many different techniques and styles of composting including the following: Hot composting from scratch Right proportions of greens & browns Aeration How to tell when your compost is ready Watering Usage of horse manure & coffee grounds Hot composting vs. cold composting Composting using Black Soldier Flies (hands on + options to purchase BSFs) Learn from an expert how Black Soldier Flies are being bred and used for composting firsthand. Black Soldier Flies are known to cut composting time down by more than 50%! BSFs are an excellent protein source for livestock & fish. Bokashi - Japanese method for composting. Bokashi translates to "Fermented organic matter" Vermicomposting - using worms to break down organic material and food scraps to create compost. We will also be teaching you how to build your own compost bins and we will give a brief demonstration on how commercial bins work. Lunch will be provided after the class!
